The Square has taken on a polarizing persona in the past couple decades, becoming the go-to destination for tourists looking to check another spot off the list; this comes much to the dismay of locals, who have seen the square lose much of its mid-century panache. A new plan for the redesign of Times Square looks to mesh these two perspectives in order to create a more harmonious balance between local and tourist.

A Pakistani-born U.S. citizen, calling himself "a Muslim soldier" avenging U.S. attacks in Muslim countries, admitted Monday that he tried to detonate a crudely made car bomb in New York's Times Square in May.

Times Square Terror Suspect Indicted

Times Square bomb suspect Faisal Shahzad was indicted Thursday on terrorism charges by a federal grand jury in New York. The indictment states there are now definite links that a Pakistan terror group trained Shahzad and provided him with $12,000 in cash to carry out the attack.
