HEBRON, West Bank — Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian as he tried to stab a soldier in the West Bank on Friday, the army said, only days after a Palestinian policeman stabbed a soldier to death.

JERUSALEM — An Israeli soldier was killed Wednesday in the northern West Bank by a Palestinian police officer, the Israeli military said. It was a rare instance of violence that occurred at a delicate time, with the Israeli and Palestinian security forces trying to build mutual trust.
