MTA launching wireless service in six stations in NYC subway system
The new service will be launched Tuesday at the A,C,E station at 14th St. and Eighth Ave.
Thursday at Union Square - another station that will get connected during the first-phase of the new program - riders were enthusiastic about doing some platform yakking.
"That's great! I can't afford to be out of cell phone range for even a minute," said Lynda Rosenburg, 24, a medical student from Queens. "It's important to have a signal available, especially in the event of an emergency."
Others, however, were unhappy that a cell-phone-free oasis will soon cease to exist.
