President to present deficit plan, go to New York
The president will announce his recommendations to the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction in the White House Rose Garden. Obama is looking to stanch the red ink by at least $2 trillion.
The president and his wife, Michelle, will travel later to New York City, where the United Nations General Assembly will be meeting. The president will attend a meet and greet at the U.S. Mission to the U.N.
In the evening, Obama will attend a Democratic National Committee event at a private residence in New York.
