Apple Wins Suit Against Two NYC Stores Selling Counterfeit Apple Products
The iPhone maker had launched massive legal action against owners of Apple Story Inc. and FunZone Inc. stores which operated from the Chinatown. Apple claimed the stores were illegally selling Apple products and merchandise.
The company also claimed the merchandise infringed on its trademark and copyright by carrying the tag line ‘Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China.’
The stores claimed they merely sold Apple accessories, but Apple prevailed in the end. If the settlement is approved by the court, store owners will have to surrender all counterfeit Apple goods in their possession.
Apart from surrendering the goods, owners will also provide Apple with records of the manufacturers from whom they purchased the goods and the people they sold merchandise to.
