Tornado apparently touches down in upstate NY
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says there have been no reports of serious injuries after the touch down Sunday. But he says there are reports of damage to structures. Cuomo says he dispatched state police and search and rescue personnel to the scene who were already in the area on Irene assignments.
Power crews are also on scene to restore electricity in case customers were affected.
Montgomery County, where Amsterdam is located, is among the counties eligible for federal disaster assistance after the tropical storm last week. At least 20 other counties are also eligible for funding.
