MTA Chief Is Resigning to Take a Job in Hong Kong
Mr. Walder’s resignation, effective Oct. 21, surprised just about everyone with an interest in the financially troubled authority, which operates New York City’s bus and subway systems, as well as the Metro-North Railroad and the Long Island Rail Road. And many were disappointed.
In a statement, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said Mr. Walder’s departure was “a real loss for New York City, the metropolitan region, the state and the country.”
