Flood watch issued for Western New York
The watch is in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.
Rainfall totals of 1.5 to 2 inches, with some additional runoff from snow melt, are expected. Also, expect rapid rises in the smaller creeks and streams with some minor flooding possible, according to the Weather Service.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts, which include heavy rain across upstate New York
Other areas under the watch in Western New York include Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, northern Erie, southern Erie, Ontario and Wayne counties.
In Central New York, affected counties are Jefferson, Lewis, northern Cayuga and Oswego.
