The New York City Fire Department rescued more than a dozen dogs from an apartment fire in the Bronx.

Nine adult dogs, one puppy and four newborns were removed Monday from the sixth floor of the apartment at 2186 Grand Concourse.

No building residents needed rescuing.

It is not clear at this time if the animals were involved in fights, but neighbors say they had been worried the dogs were not properly cared for. Some say they even called 311 and 911. One neighbor says he tried to reason with the dog owner to get rid of some of those pit bulls.
