Flooding has closed parts of three parkways in New York's Westchester County as residents in central New Jersey awoke to massive flooding on their streets and in their homes.

The heavy rain that fell on Sunday and overnight has caused major flooding on the Saw Mill, Hutchinson and Bronx River parkways.

Westchester County police say the Bronx River Parkway is closed from Westchester County in White Plains to the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers.

The Saw Mill is shut down from Hawthorne to the New York City line. The Hutchinson is closed in both directions at East Lincoln Avenue.

Two rescue boats were deployed onto residential streets to evacuate any residents whose homes were partially underwater.
