New York cab driver admits charging $800,000 fare
Peter Rahhaoui of Flushing, Queens, pleaded guilty to credit-card fraud before Judge Carol Amon in Brooklyn federal court, The New York Post reported.
Tony Chan, a Hong Kong tycoon and feng-shui master, did not notice the bill for the 13-mile trip from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey to Manhattan in 2008 until notified by his bank.
Before Rahhaoui's plea, he, his attorney and federal prosecutors had been prepared to fly to Hong Kong to cross-examine Chan at the U.S. Consulate.
