Don't sweat the bank, save it for the gym. This year, make no excuses when it comes to getting into the best shape of your life-especially when it comes to paying for those costly gym memberships. With so many economic and free workout alternatives scattered throughout the city, getting healthier and in shape for 2011 never seemed so easy (or cheap!).



"I would definitely say with all the options that are available in New York City, there should be no problem getting fit and staying fit," says Josh Zarwel, whose search for saving cash in New York City lead him to start the website, Cheapinthecity.com. The 32-year-old says he attends yoga classes, weight training, swims and other activities for under $80 a year.

You too, can save your hard earned cash while getting into better shape.

YMCA
Be accounted for with YMCA's 12-week personal fitness program. With four included personal training sessions (with membership), the entire program is designed to help everyone reach their goals. NYC Recreation Centers
These city-sponsored gyms spread throughout NYC have unheard of prices. With a full set of weight machines, free weights and running equipment, the annual fee is only $50. If you want to use the indoor pool, it'll cost you only $75 a year--what most gyms ask for in a single month. Youth under 18 can get into the gyms for free. Senior citizens pay $10. Planet Fitness
This national chain's goal is to provide fitness to those who are timid about hitting a gym But there's no intimidation when it comes to its prices. For those who sign up before Wednesday can receive a deal that starts from $20 your first month, then $10 per month after that.
