Navy Captain Owen Honors to be 'relieved of command' over sexually-explicit video [VIDEO]
In this frame grab taken from video provided to the Virginian-Pilot newspaper, U.S. Navy Capt. Owen Honors appears in one of a series of profanity-laced comedy sketches that were broadcast on the USS Enterprise via closed-circuit television.
The Navy captain accused of making raunchy videos -- in an apparent effort to entertain his sailors -- will lose his post, defense officials said Tuesday.
Captain Owen Honors will be relieved of command and replaced on the USS Enterprise, which is currently in Norfolk, Va., before the nuclear-powered ship deploys to the Middle East later this month.
The videos, which used homophobic slurs, mimicked masturbation and featured scenes of women showering together, were made and broadcast between 2006 and 2007 when Honors was the second in command of the USS Enterprise.
When the videos were created, the naval vessel was operating in support of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
The video was leaked to the Virginian-Pilot newspaper on Saturday. It contains several skits, including one where two female sailors stand in a shipboard shower stall pretending to watch each other before Honors joins them.
In another, Honors pretends he's masturbating and uses a slur to refer to homosexuals. A later skit shows sailors simulating a rectal exam.
