An unhinged Long Island man declared war on cops Monday, attacking one with a knife and bat outside a doughnut shop and punching out another at a hospital.

Nassau cops first encountered James Nicoletto, 40, of East Norwich, when they got a call at 5:45 a.m. saying he was harassing customers at an Oyster Bay Dunkin' Donuts.

Cops found Nicoletto sitting in his car, and when asked his name, Nicoletto replied by asking the cop "if he wanted to fight," the police report said.

Nicoletto grabbed a folding knife and came at the officer, who stepped back and called for help, police said.

Nicoletto then picked up an aluminum baseball bat and began smashing the cop's patrol car.

When more cops arrived, Nicoletto surrendered and was charged with menacing a police officer and attempted assault.
