Department of Buildings Issues Warning Ahead Of Hurricane Earl
The Department of Buildings is advising site owners to secure loose material and debris, cover electrical equipment, secure netting and scaffolding and suspend crane operations if the winds reach 30 miles per hour.
As for building owners, the DOB says to bring in loose objects such as lawn chairs, anchor bigger objects that might be unsafe, and clear drains and gutters.
The agency says they will be performing random spot-check inspections of construction sites around the city to see if they're safely secured.
Residents who come across any violations are urged to call 311.
As of late Wednesday, Earl was packing winds of 135 miles per hour as it continues to churn toward the East Coast.
It's expected to near the North Carolina shore late Thursday or early Friday.
