A federal prison guard maimed by an Al Qaeda terrorist in a bizarre escape attempt 10 years ago will get another chance Tuesday to push for a life sentence for his attacker.

But for Louis Pepe, the day will not be the closure he sought: The resentencing of Mamdouh Mahmud Salim will take place via a video hookup from the Supermax federal prison in Florence, Ky."We're very disappointed," Pepe's sister Eileen Trotta told The News.

Pepe was left partially paralyzed in the 2000 attack at the Manhattan Correction Center, when he was overpowered by Salim and Khalfan Khamis Mohamed after they squirted him in the eye with Tabasco sauce.

Salim stabbed Pepe through the eye and into his brain with a sharpened comb.
