A wake was held Monday evening in Brooklyn for a little girl whose death police are investigating, after accusations that a New York City Police Department officer did not try to save her.

"He smirked at me when I asked him for help it wasn't like 'Oh I'm sorry I can't help you' it was like 'I don't know CPR' like a jerk, like a jerk," Ojeda said. "He shouldn't have a badge and a gun because who's he going to protect he's supposed to protect me and help me right so why didn't he help me?"

A witness says the mom had sideswiped another vehicle beforehand, and a van moved to block her in.

Several people on Henry Street heard Ojeda's cries for help and rushed to the girl's side. One man eventually brought the young girl to the emergency room where she later died.

One witness says she saw the little girl gasping for air along with the police officer who offered little help.

"My mom is over there she's telling the cop 'Do you know CPR? Do you know CPR?' 'No I don't know CPR,'" said witness Erica Domenech.

The NYPD says it is working to determine whether the individual in question really was a police officer, and not a traffic agent or other uniformed person.

The department also notes that all members of the force receive CPR training.
