Middle-aged woman used fake silver handgun to rob three liquor stores and restaurant: cops
Jodi Mendelowitz, 48, was charged with knocking over three liquor stores and a restaurant along with a swing-and-a-miss at a Citibank - all while toting a fake silver handgun, police said.
The Forest Hills woman shed her motherly image for a costume befitting her capers - a black wig with a baseball hat, dark shades and a long denim dress.
The larcenous streak - which netted less than a grand - began at 9 p.m. Friday, when the bandit hit a liquor store in Kew Gardens Hills. She struck again just after midnight Saturday, holding up a Chinese restaurant in the same neighborhood.
Next came a Flushing liquor store at 8 p.m. Saturday followed by a day of rest on Sunday. She was back in action on Monday, attempting back-to-back jobs.
She held up the Citibank in Jamaica Estates at 2 p.m. but ran away without any loot before pulling offa heist at the Kew Gardens Hills liquor store 15 minutes later.
Mendelowitz's luck ran out during the last caper when a clerk jotted down the license plate number of her sister's red car, cops and prosecutors said. She was in cuffs by the end of the day.
