Brooklyn Bridge's $508M rehab means much pain for drivers
Crews shut the Manhattan-bound lanes of the bridge on Monday night to start a four-year, $508 million project to repaint, rehab and reroute the 127-year-old landmark.
Drivers heading into the city were shunted off to the Manhattan Bridge or the Battery Tunnel, while outbound drivers had to motor through through a construction zone.
The Manhattan-bound lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays, midnight to 7 a.m. on Saturdays and midnight to 9 a.m. on Sundays.
Crews also will do up to 24 weekend-long closures for Manhattan-bound traffic, causing even further delays for drivers trying to get into the city.
