22-year-old Mexican beauty queen crowned Miss Universe 2010
The 22-year-old beat 82 other women from around the world at the 59th annual international beauty pageant, held at the Mandalay Bay casino-resort in Las Vegas.
First runner-up was Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps, while second runner-up was Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell.
The other five finalists were 23-year-old Miss Ukraine Anna Poslavska and 22-year-old Miss Philippines Venus Raj.
Campbell won the Miss Congeniality Universe award. Miss Thailand Fonthip Watcharatrakul won Miss Photogenic Universe and a second award for having the best national costume.
As Miss Universe, Navarrete will receive an undisclosed salary, use of a luxury apartment in New York with living expenses paid, a diamond-encrusted crown and jewelry fit for a queen, a year's worth of designer clothing, hair care products, makeup and shoes, plus a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy plus housing after her reign ends.
