Rockland County dad Sam Kass high fives 3,132 in Times Square to break Guinness World Record
"This is my chance, my moment," said the 49-year-old salesman from West Nyack. "That's the God's honest truth."
Donning a golf glove, Kass leaped into each high-five, scaring the timid and delighting the brave who wandered into his path on Broadway. Pedestrians gawked. Tourists captured the moment on film. Theatergoers hurried by, lest they become the next victim.
"It's a a very New York thing to do," said Jesse Johnson, a 41-year-old Brooklynite who, with a loud smack, became No. 1,057.
Kass broke the record of 3,131 high-fives, set two years ago in Providence, R.I., by Blake Rodgers.
