Sephora makes about face, decides to press charges against former Mayor Rudy Giuliani's kid
The flip-flop came just days after the company refused to cooperate in the case - and drew criticism for giving a break to a daughter of privilege.
"They realize it was a mistake for a store to hedge the way they did," the source said.
The Ivy League daughter of ex-Mayor Rudy Giuliani was busted Wednesday on charges she filched $150 worth of cosmetics from an E. 86th St. Sephora.
Even without the company's help, Giuliani had a pretty slim chance of having her case thrown out, if the Manhattan district attorney's track record is any indication.
Nearly 99% of all 11,022 petty larceny arrests in the borough were prosecuted last year, the DA's office said. Only 135 of all those cases were not pursued.
First-time offenders, like Giuliani, comprise nearly half of all prosecuted cases.
Though she has an Aug. 31 court date, the DA is still mulling whether to press ahead with a case against the 20-year-old Harvard senior.
