Mayor Bloomberg's girlfriend Diana Taylor, 55, says she might seek public office in 2012.

Mayor Bloomberg's girlfriend Diana Taylor, 55, says she might seek public office in 2012.

Diana Taylor, Mayor Bloomberg's girlfriend, says she thinks she could have beaten New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand - and won't rule out a future race.

"I think I could have. I do," Taylor told Channel 4 in an interview Monday night.

Taylor says it would have been tricky to run while Bloomberg is mayor.

But she could have a second chance in two years, when Gillibrand will have to run again if she wins this fall. "There's always 2012. I'm not old," said Taylor, 55.

As for following in her partner's footsteps, Taylor said running for mayor is "probably not in the cards" but then added: "Never say never."
