Virtual Job Fair Seeks To Connect, Employ Nation's Vets
Practically everyone is hurting in the current economy, but the returning vet is hurting more. Every year, about 300,000 service men and women return to civilian life only to find themselves mired in a veterans unemployment rate of more than 21 percent.
People used to operating million dollar machines with high-end technology sometimes find jobs operating a mop and broom. However, there is a job fair dedicated to veterans. It's going on right now and it's called Milicruit. It includes information providers, networking, and of course, a number of major companies with job openings they want to fill.
"Something like only 10,000 attendees in this job fair. Thirty companies have been represented in. Companies like GE, FedEx," says Mike Henry of On24.
(...) The free job fair is active until the end of this month when On24 will have a final tally of visits and resulting jobs.
If you're a veteran and want to check this out, visit http://www.milicruit.com/.
