Cole Porter's apartment at the Waldorf-Astoria can be yours for $140K a month
Cole Porter's famed Steinway piano is on display in the lobby of the Waldorf-Astoria, a cheaper way to get a piece of the great songwriter than renting his old apartment for $140K a month.
You're the top - of New York's real estate market. If you want to sleep in Cole Porter's old pad, anything goes - as long as you can spare $140,000 a month.
The legendary "Love for Sale" songwriter's apartment at the Waldorf-Astoria is for rent again, at a steep price that puts it among New York's priciest rental properties.
The fully furnished six-bedroom apartment comes equipped with a marble entryway, Sub-Zero appliances, views of Park Ave. and St. Patrick's Cathedral, and a plaque celebrating its most famous former resident, according to the real estate firm Brown Harris Stevens.
Real Deal first reported the plush pad was back on the market.
Porter - while living in the 33rd-floor apartment from 1934 to 1964, the plaque notes - worked on songs including "Don't Fence Me In" and "You're the Top," which includes the famous lyric, "You're the top, you're a Waldorf salad."
