T.S. Eliot may have declared April the "cruelest month," but for Mary Richardson Kennedy, it has to be a tossup between May and July.

Tuesday, just days before she is scheduled to return to Bedford Town Court in Westchester to face drunken-driving charges stemming from a May 15 arrest, news broke that her husband of 16 years, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., had filed for divorce on May 12. And though representatives of both husband and wife aren't talking, those who follow the star-crossed Kennedy dynasty are left with the distinct impression that Mary's recent legal woes were the result of RFK Jr.'s move to legally end their marriage.

Indeed, on May 13, just a day after Robert Kennedy filed for divorce in Westchester, officers were called to the couple's home in Bedford, N.Y., and, according to The Journal News, filed a domestic incident report in which her husband alleged Mary "to be intoxicated."

Then, on May 15, Mary was stopped outside St. Patrick's School on Greenwich Road with a reported blood-alcohol level of 0.11 and charged with driving while under the influence. She later pleaded not guilty, but a town justice suspended her license and ordered her to undergo evaluation for potential alcohol abuse.

Mary is due in Town Court on July 22.
