NYPD Pulls Plug On Seaport Concert; Crowd Turns Rowdy
Up and coming rapper Drake and pop band Hanson were scheduled to perform at the South Street Seaport.
The New York City Police Department made the decision to shut the concert down after concerns were raised about overcrowding.
Officials with the South Street Seaport say the event was planned for 10,000 people, but approximately 25,000 showed up.
Fans who waited to see the rapper said the crowd was enraged.
"Towards the end -- people were just throwing bottles. There was people on roofs, throwing chairs. It was like glass bottles. It was chaos," said one concert goer.
"People were getting beat up. People were beating people up -- getting hurt. People were fighting, yelling, losing their voice," sid another concert goer.
