PC Magazine Publishes Best Free Software for 2010 - software - Technology - Windows

Every year PC Magazine compiles a list of Best Free Software. This year's collection contains 196 programs sorted into 30 categories, all of which cost nothing.

The collection consist of productivity applications and utilities for Windows users mostly, but there are programs that also works on Mac OS X and Linux. The Windows products are generally compatible with XP up to Windows 7.

Some of the programs are downloadable and require installation on your PC, but there are also web-based and portable applications.

PC Mag's mobile experts have also compiled a separate top list of free software available for smartphones. You can check them out at "The Top 100 Free Apps for Your Phone."
