BOOK: "The New Global Student" helps students save money while studying abroad
Praised by The Boston Globe as "funny, innovative and meaningful--a how-to guide with heart" and "an interesting exercise in thinking outside the grid," as The New York Times called it, the book promises student to assist them with getting a "great global education that doesn't cost a fortune."
One of the key ideas offered by the author is to find an education institute in Asia, Africa or South and Central America instead of attending a costly school in Europe. Frost says you can save thousands of dollars from the total cost of your time abroad. She hints that it has an added value, too: you’ll get “a glimpse at an emerging country that is likely to play a larger role in the global economy in the future.”

Frost says it is also worth to arrange the international program for yourself, instead of opting for a packaged program offered by your college or university. The author recommends that you enroll as an independent international student, arrange to have credits transferred, and find an affordable housing by yourself.
“Use the internet in any way you can—search for blogs about the city, country or university, find connections on Facebook,” she says. “By connecting with locals and other students, you can get very relevant and up-to-date info about the best schools, courses, places to stay (including home stays), opportunities to volunteer, and much more.”
