7 Must-have Firefox Add-Ons

The FireFTP add-on lists the content of your local computer's file directory in a pane on the left side of a tabbed page, and the file structure of the remote server on the right. You can select the file you want to move and choose a direction arrow (to upload or download) between the two panes in order to start the transfer. The FireFTP is compatible with versions of Firefox for Windows, OS X and Linux.


Online Music Player

This MP3 player has all the basic features and functionality of a standalone application: an easy-to-use interface as well as playlist management and lyrics search. It can play your MP3 files stored locally on your computer and MP3s you find on the Web. The add-on requires Flash to be installed on Firefox.


Pencil

Pencil allows users to create business diagrams, clip art, and for developers to quickly throw together GUI mock-ups. You can export your completed artwork as PNG, PDF or HTML files, or even as Microsoft Word or OpenOffice.org documents.



Simple Mail

This add-on transforms Firefox into a full-fledged e-mail client. Simple Mail can handle multiple POP3 and IMAP accounts, compose emails with an editor incorporating various text formatting tools (fonts and colors). It has an address book, an inbox message filtering tool and other customizable functions.


SVG-edit

This add-on features standard drawing tools: freehand, point-to-point line, and rectangle and circle/ellipse drawing. You can also add text to your design. SVG-edit provides the essential tools you'll need for creating vector graphics. You can move, resize and extract the layered components of your art. Unfortunately, you can only save your work as an SVG file and cannot export it into other image formats.


Yoono

Yoono is an instant-messaging add-on that supports chat and social-networking services of AIM, Facebook, Flickr, FriendFeed, Google Talk, Imeem, LinkedIn, MSN, MySpace, Twitter, and Yahoo Messenger. Yoono can also clip and save text or images you find on the Web; functions as an RSS reader; notifies you of e-mails arriving to your Yahoo Mail, Gmail and Hotmail accounts. The app can also stream music from Imeem or Last.fm.
