Which Malware Should Businesses Worry About This Year? - Technology - malware

Internet security company Webroot recently surveyed over 800 IT professionals in the US, UK and Australia to find out what are their biggest concerns are for 2010.

According to the Webroot security survey:

80% of respondents expects Web 2.0-based malware threats to be their biggest challenges,
73% said Web 2.0-based malware are harder to manage than email-based threats,
60% of the organizations reported virus attacks,
57% reported spyware attacks,
47% reported phishing attacks,
35% reported hacking attacks and
32% reported SQL injections of their Web sites.

Webroot says employees who possess sensitive business data are perfect targets for malicious hackers. Attacks against small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) have also increased because they are less likely to have powerful security protection that larger businesses do.

In order to avoid falling victim of internet threats, SMBs should opt for a security service with URL filtering, end user policy management and virus protection, and should educate their employees how to avoid threats, especially when it comes to social media.
