Eastman Kodak Co. and Samsung Electronics Co. agreed on a licensing pact that will give each company access to the other's patent portfolio.

The agreement, under which Kodak is paid royalties, ends an ongoing disagreement and terminates a patent-infringement lawsuit between the two companies. Samsung in December agreed to pay Kodak an undisclosed amount as they worked to settle the dispute. That payment will now be considered part of the royalties Samsung will pay Kodak.

Earlier in December, the International Trade Commission ruled that Samsung had infringed on two Kodak patents. Kodak had filed suit against both Samsung and LG Electronics Inc. more than a year ago, but Kodak and LG settled in December, agreeing on a similar licensing deal.

Kodak and Samsung have asked the commission to drop their patent-infringement proceedings.
