Lenovo Unveils MultiTouch Netbook Tablet and Core i7 Ideapads

The Ideapad S10-3 is the newest addition to Lenovo's netbook line, replacing the previous Ideapad S10-2. One of the things you'll notice immediately is that the traditional keyboard is replaced with an improved, isolated one, and the key pitch goes from 89 percent to 98 percent, which should improve the typing experience. The 10-inch widescreen and 1,024-by-600 resolution remain untouched, though. With Intel's launch of its newest Atom platform ("Pinetrail"), Lenovo wasted little time putting in the 1.6-GHz, Intel Atom N450 processor (the N470 is available as well). Memory is easily upgradeable to 2GB and both 4-cell and an 8-cell battery options will be available. The S10-3 will retail for $500.

The Ideapad S10-3t will raise some eyebrows, as it is Lenovo's first convertible netbook tablet, one that will incorporate a multitouch capacitive screen. It, too, has a 10-inch widescreen and a vanilla resolution, but unlike the S10-3, this particular screen can swivel 180 degrees and be laid flat against the keyboard. The keyboard, however, isn't as wide as that of the S10-3, as it inherits a traditional format instead of an isolated one. It looks like the keyboard from the original S10. Its innards are nearly identical to those of the S10-3, which includes the N450 and N470 Atom offerings, a 320-Gbyte hard drive, and similar battery offerings. It'll retail for $500 as well.

For mobile performance enthusiasts, the Ideapad Y460 and the Y560 are Lenovo's newest mainstream laptops that run on Intel's Core i7, Core i5, and Core i3 processors.
