Deadly blaze destroys Detroit hotel, kills 2
A three-alarm fire Thursday night in Detroit's Cass Corridor left at least two people dead and three injured, according to the Detroit Fire Department. The fire consumed the Huntington Hotel, a five-story building on Alexandrine, just west of Woodward.
Two residents died in the blaze, which started shortly after 8:20 p.m., Deputy Fire Commissioner Seth Doyle III said. Besides the deaths, one resident was in critical condition, one firefighter had second-degree burns and another had back pain.
The older brick building had more than 40 units, Doyle added. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
