Thief shopped by stolen Xbox

TG Daily 12/28/2009 03:46
Thief shopped by stolen Xbox - USA - crime - Xbox - New York - NYC - Technology

A thief who stole dozens of laptops, games consoles and GPS systems was caught when he used a stolen Xbox 360 to log into an online game.

The real owner was playing online at a friend's house and saw his own name pop up, the New York  Post reports. He called the police, who were able to trace the IP address of the stolen console.

They raided the Bronx home of 22-year-old Jeremiah Gilliam to find thousands of dollars worth of stolen kit.

Officers reckon that Gilliam - who was already being investigated by police for burglary - broke into as many as 200 homes and cars in Westchester County.

Gilliam has been charged with grand larceny. But the Xbox that shopped him didn't get a reward.
