Two 10-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of raping an eight-year-old girl in her local park. The alleged victim, who cannot be named, returned from playing near her home in Hayes, west London, on Tuesday afternoon to tell her mother that she had been raped by two boys she knew.

Her mother telephoned the police shortly afterwards and specialist officers were dispatched to speak to her about her alleged ordeal.

Meanwhile the boys, who are understood to live nearby, were arrested on suspicion of rape. They were questioned and later released on bail until the middle of next month.

Officers have disclosed few details about her alleged ordeal other than to say that both boys are said to have been involved.

Neighbours said that the girl had only recently been allowed to start playing in the park unsupervised.

Until a short time ago her parents had restricted her to playing outside her house.

It was claimed that she was originally playing alone when the two boys “enticed” her to a small building for storing bins where she was allegedly raped.
