9 lives purr gallon? Cat stuck in SUV engine is OK - weird - animals

A tan-and-white cat is no worse for wear after riding about two miles through the Bronx while stuck in the engine compartment of an SUV.

Building superintendent Wilfred Rodriguez heard rattling while he was driving on Monday. When he parked, he spotted a bushy tail and a paw sticking out of the SUV's front end.

His initial reaction: "Oh my God! I killed a cat." He was relieved when the paw moved.

Detectives Jeffrey King and Kris Cataldo of the NYPD's Emergency Service Unit freed the grease-covered feline by removing the battery and other vehicle parts.

Richard Gentles of New York City Animal Care & Control said the stray appears to be in good physical shape.
