Dozen people carry guns outside Obama Phoenix speech; am I missing something? - USA - Arizona - Phoenix - gun control - politics - Barack Obama - opinion

About a dozen people carrying guns, including one with a military-style rifle, were among protesters who were outside a Phoenix convention hall, where President Obama gave a speech.

Seems that openly carrying firearms outside town-hall meetings and assorted locales where Mr. Obama speaks, has become quite popular and trendy. Wonder if Rush, Hannity, Beck, and the ultra-right loyalists are aware of this seemingly weekly event?

One man was carrying an AR-15 semi-automatic, assault weapon rifle. Why? Because he could. "In Arizona, I still have some freedoms," he said. Yeah, goodness knows, we all need an assault weapon when going to see the President of the US, don't we?

I'm going out on a limb, but I don't recall the last time I've ever heard of multiple times of various folks carrying weapons near the President. I thought if you so much made any direct or indirect "remark"; uttered anything even remotely threatening to the POTUS, the Secret Service would haul your behind straight to jail. Yet in Phoenix, a handful of people openly carry weapons directly near the vicinity of the President, and no one blinks an eye. Incredible.

This is scary stuff. And you don't have to be a Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian, Green, or such to agree, right? We have a history here with regards to assassinated Presidents. This frankly boggles the mind. Am I missing something? Talk to me. Explain to me the logic here; is this nuts or what?!
