Federal Aviation investigators are looking into an early morning emergency landing at Miami International Airport.

A Houston-bound flight coming from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil hit a patch of turbulence and made a forced landing at the nearest airport.

The incident caused several dozen injuries, but all 179 passengers and crew members survived.

More than two dozen passengers were injured.

At least 13 were transferred to ambulances and taken to local hospitals, some with reported head, neck and back injuries.

"I didn't have my seatbelt on and I flew up and hit my head on the roof and then I fell down and hit it on the monitor in front of me," one passenger said.

Photos taken by a passenger show the cabin aftermath: Deployed oxygen masks hanging down and medics cleaning up.

In a statement, Continental Airlines said the fasten seatbelt sign was illuminated during the incident. The majority of the 168 passengers on board had them on.
