Thailand Health and Beauty Show 2009
Thai spa does not narrowly mean just the traditional Thai massage to cure certain symptoms or to restore health. It means holistic health care.
Thai spa relaxes both body and mind with an energizing power to enhance both beauty and health through an intricate mixture of herbal treatment and therapies. Thai spa is rooted in Thailand's ancient cultural heritage in health care, and this is where the heart of its worldwide popularity lies. Its success is based on three principal elements: authentic, organic and indigenous. These qualities set Thai spa apart while providing a firm basis for it to grow into a world-class service industry.

This year, the theme of Thailand Health & Beauty Show 2009 (HBS 2009) is "Thailand: Destination of Spa and Beauty", given its aim to be the center of spa knowledge and businesses. Its highlight, the "Thai Spa Day", will feature the gathering of world-class spa businesses from around the world. Experts in the spa-related businesses in Thailand will be on hand to share their secrets of success.
This is something not be missed for everyone who is interested in the arts of spa and
the spa industry.
According to Mr. Andrew Jacka, President of Thai Spa Association, the steady growth of Thai spa results from its unique identity which is in line with the global trends and preferences for holistic and nature-based health care.

According to Mrs. Charatsri Suwannatap, Vice President of Thai Spa Association, the famous statues of hermits in different yoga positions at Wat Pho are not the only source of Thai traditional massage. "Our traditional massage is rooted in two main schools : the 'nuad raja samnak' (court massage) and 'nuad chaleuysak' (mainstream massage) which features very elaborate and detailed massaging positions and techniques," she said. "There are 127 positions from the yoga statues at Wat Pho alone and each position has different health purposes." The spa industry is highly popular because the art of spa adds gentle and relaxing touches to a stressful life, she added. "When the global economy is down and when people feel stress, they all want to have some moments of relaxing joy. Spa can do the trick. That is why the spa business should get more support. If we join hands to seriously support the spa industry so they can improve on the unique qualities and value-for-money services, then the doors of opportunities are open for us."
With Thai spa firmly advancing to become a world-class service industry, Thailand Health & Beauty Show 2009 is set to be an international trade show to serve every party in the health and beauty businesses. Apart from featuring comprehensive products and services, there will be experts on hand to give counseling and advices on how to start health, beauty and related businesses, thus making the fair a one-stop service centre for operators, manufacturers, importers and exporters from around the world.
