Thirty transsexual Thai competitors joined in the "Miss Tiffany's Universe 2009" final contest at the Tiffany Show Theater in the east coastal city Pattaya of Thailand.

The winner would participate in the Miss Queen of the Universe Contest on behalf of Thailand in November.

The contest is expected to promote the tourism in Thailand, especially to feature Pattaya as a tourist resort. The money raised would be donated to Thailand Red Cross Society for AIDS prevention and treatment.

The contestants' age range from 17 to 25 and 23 of them have bachelor degrees.

Sorrawee Nattee, 20 years old, was crowned "Miss Tiffany's Universe 2009".

Sorrawee not only won 100,000 baht cash, a Honda Jazz car and diamond crown and sash, but also took away a further 20,000 baht and trophy for the Best Costume.

The evening was put on by Tiffany's Show Pattaya, which owners say is the world's largest transsexual cabaret.

There were categories for Best Costume, Miss Photogenic and even Miss Unlimited Sexy Star.

All contestants were born men, and organisers said they hoped to raise public awareness of transgendered issues.
