Man arrested after posting Craigslist murder ad
Surveillance video shows a man suspected of posting an ad on Craigslist soliciting willing murder victims about to enter a motel room where, unbeknown to him, Seattle Police detectives are waiting.
SEATTLE -- Police officers have arrested a Kent man who investigators say posted an advertisement on the Craigslist Web site seeking a woman to have sex with and kill.
Seattle police spokesman said Mark Jamieson the solicitation, titled "A strange desire," was posted last week in the casual encounters section of the Seattle Craigslist site. A Craigslist employee spotted the post and called police.
Undercover detectives contacted the man to determine if the ad was more than just fantasy, officials said.
The man allegedly said he was looking for someone who wanted to be killed, but that he was "willing to kill an unwilling participant," police wrote in a news release.
"This person not only wanted to have sex and then kill somebody, but he wanted to get paid for it," Jamieson said.
Investigators say after communicating with the man about 30 times, during which the man doubled his price to $2,000, detectives set up a sting at the Aero Motel in South Seattle where the man allegedly agreed to meet the would-be murder victim.
