Bangladesh hunts for more than 1,000 mutinous border guards - Bangladesh - border - guard


Bangladeshi soldiers are hunting for more than 1,000 mutinous border guards who fled with stolen weapons after a bloody insurrection left scores of army officers dead.



The powerful military is furious about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's handling of the crisis and could yet threaten her young administration.

The paramilitary border guards launched their two-day mutiny last week over demands for better pay, ambushing their commanding officers in the army during an annual meeting at the guards' headquarters in the capital, Dhaka.
