UK Helicopter carrying 18 crashes off Scotland, all rescued
The Super Puma helicopter crashed about 190 km east of Aberdeen as it was making an approach to an offshore oil installation, a spokeswoman of the Ministry said last night.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
"We can confirm that a major search and rescue operation is currently under way in the North Sea, centres on a position about 120 nautical miles east of Aberdeen," the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said in a statement.
