China, U.S. To Resume Military Talks - military - US

China and the United States will resume their military level talks, which were suspended in October over the sale of $6.5 billion worth of U.S. arms to Taiwan, later this month, reported the state-run China Daily on Monday.

The report in the China Daily said that a meeting between a U.S. assistant secretary of defense and a deputy chief of the Chinese army will take place after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's first visit to China from February 20-22.

The paper said that the military level talks between the two countries would be held from Feb 27-28, and quoted Defense Ministry spokesman Hu Changming as saying that the talks would be informal.

China had suspended high level military talks with the U.S. in last October after the after the Bush administration announced it would sell $6.5 billion worth of arms to Taiwan, despite Beijing's objections.
