Drunk cops thrash passengers
Passengers in the AC three-tier compartment alleged that Kulwant Singh (57) and Harjeet Singh (29) had started disturbing them soon after boarding from Delhi. When they objected, the duo first abused them and then, even beat up some passengers. When the train reached Howrah on Tuesday morning, passengers caught them by the collar and handed them over to the Government Railway Police. The policemen was arrested.
But to the dismay of the passengers, they were merely charged with committing public nuisance under Section 290 of the Indian Penal Code, which is a bailable charge. So, as expected, the two constables secured bail after being produced in court.
