Seattle water customers may pay for their own rebate - water - pay - rebate


The good news: If you have lived in Seattle for more than four years, you might get a rebate on your water bill.



The bad news: You may have to pay for your own rebate.

It's all about fire hydrants and who should pay for them.

Since the great 1889 fire that destroyed Seattle, maintaining fire hydrants went from private hands to a city responsibility, and water customers paid for them.
