Serie A leaders Inter Milan surprisingly dropped points at home to Torino, while AC Milan, Atalanta, Genoa and Lecce all picked up wins.
Inter's clash with relegation threatened Torino looked to be the proverbial home banker on paper but Jose Mourinho's side had to settle for a point after coming from behind.
One-time Manchester City misfit Rolando Bianchi gave Torino a shock lead on the stroke of half-time, before Nicolas Burdisso partially spared Inter's blushes just shy of the hour mark.
David Beckham again played well as Milan moved up to second spot with a 3-0 victory at Lazio.
